Behind The Scenes of the Snow White Panto Photoshoot

I can already hear the festive bells, I can see the brightly decorated shops, and I can smell the fruit cake and mince pies. This year’s family favourite pantomime, Snow White, is soon to be on it’s way as the end of the year draws near.

On Monday morning, I was privy to some behind the scenes as the cast got together for the first time for the official photoshoot. It was also the first time wearing their beautiful, and brightly coloured costumes. Panto certainly brings a buzz in the air, and both media, cast and creative team alike were bouncing around the room.

Among the excitement there was also a few nerves, including that of legendary radio talk show host, John Robbie, who bravely steps onto stage for the first time in a musical. Luckily, he’s in good hands with the talented director and writer, Janice Honeyman, as well as the gracious support of experienced actors Desmond Dube, Ben Voss and the entire Snow White cast, who already seem like one big family.

Rehearsals start early October, with the Panto opening for audiences on 3rd November until 23rd December 2018 at the Joburg Theatre. To secure your tickets now before the panto is sold-out again, you can call 0861 670 670, go online at www.joburgtheatre.com or book in person at the Joburg Theatre box office.  Theatre patrons can also book online and pay at selected Pick N Pay stores.

Watch the video to see get a glimpse into some of the fun during the photoshoot, as I chatted to John Robbie, Ben Voss, Desmond Dube, as well as producer Bernard Jay and more of the cast.
