Tortured Soul – Interview with Brad Holmes, director of Bassline Live

Back by popular demand, the creators of soulful house music, Tortured Soul will be performing live for one night only on 15 December 2018 at Gold Reef City.

In my interview with Bassline Live director, Brad Holmes, he chats about the South African music industry and the excitement around bringing Tortured Soul back to Johannesburg.

1. Brad Holmes, as owner of Bassline Live, tell me more about the transition from a popular live music venue to a production company? What has influenced that move?

2. Where does Bassline Live place itself within the South African music industry? What is your key goal and how do you hope to influence the music industry?

Our key goal is to promote South African and African music through a annual festival that will eventually have 10000pax attending a day over 3 days.

3. Tortured Soul is a soulful house music group influenced by music of Prince, Heatwave and Kool & The Gang. For the millennial or younger generation, what does that mean? How would you describe Tortured Soul?

They are the perfect end of the year party band who have a very high work ethic.

4. Where do you see the music industry in South Africa in 5 years time?

Live will play a more important role as the music lover changes the way they consume content. Publishing and streaming are the other revenue streams the are growing in a big way.

5. How does South African music level up with International standards at the moment?

We have the talent, know how and expertise. We definitely compete.
